Uptown Franklinton Fall Festival October 30, 2010
|
Frankenfest on Main is sponsored by the Franklinton Uptown Revitalization Committee, and is held on the last Saturday in October annually. The mission of the event is to bring the Franklinton community together to celebrate the fall season, promote and enjoy our historic uptown, and to hopefully raise funds to further the programs of the Franklinton URC. We work to ensure a full day of fun for any interest!

Frankenfest on Main 2009 a Success!
On October 31, 2009, the Franklinton URC held the third annual Frankenfest on Main. We had a
very exciting day! Nearly 90 vendors from the area were a part of the event, offering visitors and
shoppers a bounty of variety! Many departments of Franklin County Government participated, as
well, as did our local elected officials and candidates for office. There were also a lot of great
chances to get something to eat! Visitors also had the chance to hear several local bands, and
were treated to entertainment by the Catenacci Dance Theatre. As soon as the event ended,
planning begun for the next event! Many thanks go out to all those who helped make the event a
success!
Plans for Frankenfest on Main 2010 Underway! Applications Online!
Almost as soon as last year's event ended, plans began for the 2010 Frankenfest on Main.
Intent on continuing our tradition to keep the event on the last Saturday in October, the
Franklinton URC realized there would be a great deal of synergy around the 2010 event as it will
fall the day Frankinton holds Trick or Treating and the annual Pumpkin Pageant and Costume
Contest!
Frankenfest on Main will begin at 9am on Saturday, October 30, 2010. The event will run until
5:00pm. During the mid-afternoon, the Franklinton Arts Alive Committee will set up the
pumpkins that will be judged as a part of the annual Pumpkin Pageant. (Pumpkins are carved
by students from Franklinton Elementary, Long Mill Elementary and Franklinton High Schools,
as well as area daycares and other interested citizens. Prizes go to the top three pumpkins
from each school, and there is also a category for others who submit.) Judging will begin once
Frankenfest ends, but the pumpkins will be up most of the day for all to enjoy!
After Frankenfest ends at 5:00pm, vendors will have the opportunity to break down their booths, but the street
will remain closed for the costume contest, which will begin at 6:00pm, and will run until 7:30pm. Trick or
treating will occur throughout Franklinton from 6:00 - 8:00pm, and many businesses on Main Street will be
open for trick or treating, as well. The Arts Alive Committee is planning to host a street dance that evening, as
well!
All in all, the many civic and community organizations in Franklinton will come together to create a great event
for everyone to enjoy. Are you interested in participating in Frankenfest on Main 2010? We'd love to have you!
